The 1982-founded Bharathidasan University offers more than 60 programs, including roughly 15 UG and 26 PG programs, 6+ diploma or certificate courses, and 7 professional courses via distance learning. For students who are denied access to education or are unable to continue their education, BDU's Center for Distance Education (CDE) was established in 1992.  All students who pursue their degrees from the University through distance learning are on par with those who completed their degrees through the regular mode of study. The University holds classes on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) for distance learners. The staff of the Centre for Distance Education strictly monitors all activities and rules. This State University has two campuses, four faculties, 38 departments, and 30 cutting-edge research hubs. More than 152 programs are available through the university, with 42 Postgraduate programs, 31 M.Phil courses, 17 P.G. Diplomas, 31 Ph.D., 12 Diplomas, and 10 Certificate course
